community mural

Join we all live here at the West Loop Arts Festival, September 16 and 17, to take part in one of the largest community art installations ever to take place in Chicago!

Who?

The West Loop Community Organization has partnered with we all live here to develop a 40 foot x 40 foot custom globe mural made up of 6,400 tiles generously donated by Daltile. These tiles will be installed row by row, tile by tile, by anyone who wants to participate. Tiles can be purchased in advance here. The mural will be located on the Lake St. side of Bridgford Foods in Chicago's West Loop.

What?

Once the mural is complete, this massive 8-Bit globe will serve as a physical reminder to all of Chicago what can be accomplished when we all work together. The magic doesn't end there though. We will be developing a digital version online where everyone will be invited to populate the planet by adding their name and their hometown. We hope to eventually include every Chicago neighborhood, every state, every city, every country, and finally every Continent.

Why?

We decided to put the "fun" in fundraising. In order to raise money for both we all live here's ACT program and Light Up Lake Street we are creating a community produced mural. Participants will buy a tile, ride the scissor lift, and stick it to the wall. Your photograph will be taken while you place your tile, and then once it's all complete you will get a participant print shot by the famed Jesse Lirola.

we all live here's ACT program creates public art at Chicago schools by conducting assemblies for their entire student population. The students learn basic graphic design, community building, crowdfunding, and generally how to make an idea come to life as they work together to bring a public art project that brings positive inclusivity to their school's neighborhood. Our programs are funded entirely by people purchasing the products and experiences we sell.

Light Up Lake Street.

How much?

For $25 you get a tile, a Lyft ride to place your tile on the wall, a photo of you placing your tile, and an official print shot by Jesse Lirola and your name on the donor plaque. Your money will fund two great causes and you will always be able to show friends and family what you helped create.

When?

Installations will begin September 15th for people who have purchased their tile in advance and will continue until the mural is complete.

Can I still help if I will be out of town?

Absolutely, we have a $5 donation level which will still get your name listed on the donor plaque because your money will help offset some of the other costs of doing this massive installation.
